Quality & Safety
Patient Safety
At Oakdale Community Hospital, we are consistently ranked high for infection prevention. In a recent study of hospitals, we scored in the top 10% in the state and nation for patient safety for overall hospital and medical care. We scored #1 in the state for overall medical care as it relates to patient safety.
Handwashing
To protect our patients, we ask all patients and visitors to help us keep our hospital and campus as germ-free as possible. Please wash your hands upon entering and leaving a patient’s room. Frequent hand washing with soap and water or a waterless hand cleanser is proven to help reduce the spread of germs including those that cause staph infections, pneumonia, bacterial infections, and viruses.
Coughs and Sneezes
We also ask that if you have a cold, recent flu or virus to please wait until you are healthy to visit the hospital. If you should cough or sneeze during a visit, please cover your mouth and nose and then immediately wash your hands.
Preventing Falls
Fall prevention is also an important patient safety focus for us. If you are a patient, please call for assistance when getting in and out of bed. If you notice a spill or a tripping hazard, please immediately contact a member of the hospital team. Together we can all help to make Oakdale Community Hospital as safe as possible.
