Emergency Services

At Oakdale Community Hospital, we have developed an outstanding Emergency services team who are experienced in caring for patients during a health crisis. From auto accidents, to broken bones and cuts, to acute respiratory problems, heart attack and stroke, and more, our ER team’s first goal is to diagnose and quickly stabilize patients. All of our ER nursing team receive advanced training in emergency medicine and trauma care.

If an ER patient needs hospitalization, the ER team works with the nursing team on the floor to ensure a seamless continuum of care during the admission process.

At the helm of our Emergency Department are our ER physicians who are trained in emergency medicine and are board certified or board eligible in their respective areas of medicine. From diagnosis to treatment, their focus is on ensuring the best possible outcome given the illness, injury, or condition. They work quickly and utilize the hospital’s imaging and laboratory services to ensure appropriate care.

Laboratory Services

The Laboratory team plays an important role at Oakdale Community Hospital. CAP accredited, the lab complies with all regulatory guidelines associated with lab testing and offers services 24 hours a day.Clinical laboratory technologists, under the direction of a medical director, examine and analyze body fluids and specimens to provide physicians with key information about the patient’s health.

Our lab has sophisticated computerized technology that allows our team to provide the care our patients need. After testing and examining a specimen, they analyze the results and relay them to physicians.

Imaging Services

Our Hi-Speed Spiral CT LXI scanner allows for 3D image reconstruction which reduces radiation exposure, exam time and provides improved imaging capabilities.Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) allows physicians a closer look inside the body without requiring the use of x-rays. Using a large magnet, your body is scanned to provide very detailed pictures of areas that cannot be viewed on conventional x-rays. MRI exams make it possible for physicians to see certain types of tissue and obtain important information about the brain, spine, joints, and internal organs.

Accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), our mammography unit allows a closer look at the tissues inside the breast using low energy x-rays to screen for cancer or breast disease. Early detection of breast cancer helps save lives. Women 40 years old, should have mammograms annually.

Full diagnostic cardiology and nuclear services are provided by Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologists who have been specially trained in nuclear medicine procedures. Services include cardiac, skeletal, genitourinary, pulmonary, and oncology imaging.

Another important imaging tool is Ultrasound which uses sound waves to generate detailed images. Ultrasound services are available for cardiac, gynecological, vascular, abdominal, and breast imaging.

Cardiology Services

Heart disease remains a serious problem in our state, and Oakdale Community Hospital is committed to meeting the needs of our cardiac patients. We are accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) and are ranked in the top 10% in the state for the treatment of heart failure according to a recent study.

Our non-invasive heart services include: EKG’s; 24-hour Holter monitoring; echocardiography with cardiac Doppler and color flow imaging; and contrast echocardiograms. To gain a better understanding of the heart and vessels, we also offer stress testing, including exercise treadmill; radionuclide exercise treadmill; pharmaceutical stress-echo; and radionuclide pharmaceutical stress test. These tests can help detect blockages in the vessels, valve problems, and other irregularities that can lead to damage to the heart muscle or heart failure if left undiagnosed and untreated.
