Oakdale Community Hospital selects an employee that demonstrates true commitment to their job and the hospital each quarter.  Kim Thomas, RN Manager of the Med/Surg unit, was recently selected to receive this award.  Kim is professional and has great integrity.  She fills in on her unit as a nurse and takes on extra responsibilities as needed.  Kim has been an OCH employee since 2008.Kim is very involved with her family and any activity they are part of.  Kim loves spending time outdoors when she is not working.  She serves on the advisory board of the local Louisiana Technical College LPN program.

Notice of Privacy Practices

The patient has the right, within the law, to personal and informational privacy, as manifested by the following rights:

  1. To refuse to talk with or see anyone not officially connected with the hospital, including visitors, or persons officially connected with the hospital, but not directly involved in his/her care.
  2. To wear appropriate personal clothing and religious and other symbolic items as long as they do not interfere with diagnostic procedures or treatments.
  3. To be interviewed and examined in surroundings designed to assure reasonable visual and auditory privacy. This includes the right to have a person of one’s own sex present during certain parts of a physical examination, treatment, or procedure performed by a health professional of the opposite sex and the right not to remain disrobed any longer than is required for accomplishing the medical purpose for which the patient was asked to disrobe.
  4. To determine the amount of involvement of family/significant others in his/her care.
  5. To expect that any discussion or consultation involving his/her case will be conducted discreetly and that individuals not directly involved in his/her care will not be present without his/her permission.
  6. To have his/her medical record read only by individuals directly involved in his/her treatment or in the monitoring of its quality and by other individuals only on his/her written authorization of that of his/her legally authorized representative.
  7. To expect all communications and other records pertaining to his/her care, including the source of payment or treatment, to be treated as confidential.
  8. To be placed in protective privacy when considered necessary for personal safety.

Upon admission, each patient is provided Oakdale Community Hospital’s Notice of Privacy Practices Brochure. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. In order to protect your privacy, please note that you or your family should not approach a physician or staff member concerning patient information where other people can hear your discussion, such as the hallway or in the cafeteria. You have the right to access, request amendment to, and receive an accounting of disclosures regarding your own health information as permitted under applicable law.

Language Assistance

If a patient or caregiver is not fluent in English and needs a translator, we will work to find one in their native language. Being able to communicate during an illness or surgery is an important aspect of patient care, so please let us know if a patient or caregiver has limited proficiency in English.

We understand how busy today’s families are and how important access to quality healthcare is in our community. That’s why we now have two family health clinics – Elizabeth Family Health Clinic and Forest Hill Family Health Clinic. Both clinics offer same-day appointments, easy access and prompt service. Our Elizabeth clinic is located about 15 minutes from our main campus.  The Oakdale clinic is a located directly across from the library in downtown Oakdale.  Both clinics are providing outstanding care to residents in Elizabeth, Oakdale and the surrounding areas.

Our full-time physician and nurse practitioners are certified in family medicine and provide many services including immunizations, screenings, well-checks, colds, flu, sore throats, allergies and more. They also manage chronic diseases and conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and COPD.

KidMed services are also available at of our Elizabeth clinic.

Oakdale Community Hospital’s inpatient Physical Therapy Department deals with the treatment of pain, disease, or injury. Our therapists are concerned with the promotion of health, the prevention of physical disabilities, and the evaluation and rehabilitation of persons disabled by pain, disease, or injury. With treatment by physical therapeutic measures, we strive to promote mobility, build endurance and improve strength.
